CPTM Line Expansion Will Benefit from IEME Brasil Services

Last February, IEME Brasil signed a contract with Trivia Trens S.A. for the provision of consulting services in expropriation and resettlement, activities necessary for the land and social viability of areas potentially affected by the expansion works of Lines 11-Coral, 12-Safira, and 13-Jade of CPTM – Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (São Paulo Metropolitan Train Company).

The services comprise a set of activities, ranging from initial studies, design of methodological approaches and construction of mitigating measures, through all expropriation procedures, to the monitoring and follow-up of the restoration of living conditions for the most vulnerable families and small businesses.

The contract initially involves the preparation of expropriation and communication plans, which will provide both guidelines for expropriation actions and support for vulnerable families and small businesses targeted by the displacement process. Subsequently, the IEME technical team will work on land surveying and legal aspects of the areas, property registration, socioeconomic research, expropriation project, on-call service for affected families, preparation of drafts and documentation for the Public Utility Decree (DUP), appraisal reports, clearing of the right-of-way, relocation of families, monitoring, compensation/indemnification measures, and support and audits.

Transportation in the State

The expansion of Lines 11-Coral, 12-Sapphire, and 13-Jade is part of the São Paulo State Government’s program, initiated in 2023, which aims to expand and modernize the state’s rail transport systems. Among the actions included are investments in the aforementioned lines and in the CPTM Airport Express (called the Alto Tietê Lot), for projects on brownfield and greenfield lines, new stations, and greater integration with the metro.

The program seeks to mobilize private capital in conjunction with public investments in the high-capacity transportation system of the São Paulo Metropolitan Region (RMSP), providing economic integration, connectivity, and sustainability.

Trivia Trens S.A. is the concessionaire responsible for the future operation and maintenance of the Alto Tietê Lot lines, also assuming the modernization of the region’s road system. The concessionaire will be responsible for the expansion and revitalization of stations, requalification of existing infrastructure, closure of level crossings, expansion of lines, and implementation of new stations.

Contract with CPTM provides for renovation of 11 CPTM stations

Accessibility for people with special needs (public and employees), as well as meeting the basic needs of comfort and safety of employees (in compliance with the NR-24 standard), is one of the focuses of an important contract between IEME Brasil and CPTM (Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos) for the refurbishment of 11 of the company’s stations.

Initiated in April 2018, the contract for specialized engineering and architecture technical services aims at the elaboration of the executive project for the adaptation of the stations and complete renovations, which include electrical, hydraulic and systems installations, intended to comply with the Fire Department Inspection Report (AVCB).

The work covers the following stations: Mooca, Ipiranga, São Caetano, Utinga, Prefeito Saladino, Santo André, Capuava, Mauá, Guapituba, Ribeirão Pires and Rio Grande da Serra.

So far, the complete executive projects for the renovation and adaptation of Capuava, Prefeito Saladino, São Caetano and Utinga stations have been completed, which have already been tendered and built. Tenders for the construction of the Santo André and Mauá stations are in progress. The executive projects for the other stations had different stages of development, but were interrupted by the client’s decision.
