Entity creates first laboratory of the type in Brazil.

In partnership with the Laboratory of Structures of the School of Engineering of USP São Carlos, IEME Brazil Engenharia Consultiva is setting up a homologation laboratory for permanent railroad subway components. According to the entity, the approval is a procedure to attest that the components of a particular manufacturer meet the technical and quality requirements. In general, the product is subject to actual conditions of use to evaluate its performance. At the site, elastomeric materials and permanent track components, such as anchorages, AMVs – switchgear and sleepers will be tested. In the case of permanent railroad vehicle components, the tests are established by national and international regulatory bodies. “The laboratory will be the first in Brazil to carry out static and dynamic tests defined in international technical standards on vibration attenuation materials in metro railways, tests previously done only outside the country,” says Marco Juliani, engineer and director of IEME Brazil.
