On the field, Corinthians didn’t give São Paulo a chance, they won 2-0, and remain firm in the fight for the 2010 Brazilian title. to the stadium), Fiel Torcida was noisier. At least that’s what the monitoring carried out by IEME Brasil, a consulting engineering company specialized in dynamic analysis of structures, showed, through sensors (accelerometers) installed in the stands, the behavior of the fans of the two teams.

Four sensors were placed below the upper stands of sectors 48 and 49 for Corinthians, and 36 and 37 for São Paulo. So that Timão would not be harmed by being entitled to only 5% of the total ticket load, the Tricolor meters were placed to cover only an area of the same size as that occupied by the visitors.

The vibration captured by the sensors was monitored by Marco Juliani. The first two graphs on the screen on the engineer’s laptop showed the intensity of the Corinthians fans, and the last two showed the São Paulo area. When the two teams entered the field, there was a vibration rate of 355 mm/s². However, the peak happened when Dentinho scored the second goal of the match, which guaranteed the 2-0 victory over the rival: 455 mm/s². When Elias scored the first goal, in the initial stage, the index had reached 216 mm/s².

Comparison between the vibration peaks of the two teams shows a 30% advantage for Corinthians fans, says IEME Brasil engineer Marco Juliani. Timão’s fans did not show so much excitement when the team entered the field because it took a while for them to be released by the Military Police to enter the stadium, and therefore they were not in the designated area at that time.
